Palm Cove Beach

Camping Queensland has perfect family breaks. Cairns Caravan Parks offer some of the best facilities and camping spots you can find anywhere.

These are my personal recommendations for families and the ever expanding grey nomads that travel around Australia.

Cairns Coconut Holiday Resort

Do You Want The Perfect Holiday While You Watch The Kids Play?

Caravan Parks in Cairns are all unique, however there is one that stands out from the rest. It's the 1st 5 star caravan holiday park in Australia and the only one in Queensland.

This would have to be Cairns most popular caravan holiday park resort. These guys know what they're doing when it comes to caravan holidays and family breaks. This is a holiday resort with the lot.

Formerly Cairns Coconut Caravan Resort, they've extended it to combine everything into their concept.

Just 7 kilometers south of Cairns city and set amongst 28 acres of lush tropical gardens, this park has it all.

They've got accommodation that will suit everyone.

From self contained luxury villas and holiday cabins to powered en suite sites and grassy camp sites, and everything in between.

Not only do they have excellent accommodation facilities, but you wouldn't even need to leave Cairns holiday park to have fun.

There's an endless variety of activities for the kids and adults alike. They also have organized activities that involve the whole family.

The resort swimming pools are large and tropical, with hot or cold spas and aqua aerobics.

Giant jumping pillows, adventure playground, beach volleyball, badminton, bocce, tennis, basketball, mini golf… and the list just goes on.

Free wireless internet, poolside BBQ's, kiosk, restaurant and laundries are among the other facilities.

If you want it, they've got it! This is a family getaways holiday that beats them all.

It would have to be the ultimate in Cairns family breaks.

If you want to leave the park to see the sights of Cairns or take a tour, then they also have an extensive tour desk and they can do all your tour bookings.

Cairns Caravan Parks Guest Review…

"Truly the best park we have stayed at. Value for money, clean and neat villas and surrounds. Everything the holidaying family could want. Really impressed with the effort the staff go to make it feel like a little community - even morning yoga/ aqua aerobics. Special pancake breakfasts; a little wagon train that takes the little tikes for a ride around the park. Huge amount of tourism information at the desk. Do as much as you want or as little. This place as won numerous awards, and it's not hard to see why!" - Tripadvisor

Cool Waters Holiday Park

Do you love birdwatching? Well this is a Birdwatchers paradise...

Most of caravan parks in Cairns are close to Cairns city and Cool Waters is no exception. This 4 star park is about a 10 minute drive form the city and is set in a quiet but convenient location with a gorgeous, freshwater creek bordering the park. Many locals swim in the same creek in a park right next to the Holiday Park.

It's surrounded by lush, tropical rainforest with huge trees and palms, making it a cool, shady setting. The natural setting is home to many birds and wildlife.

The swimming pool was created with families in mind and features a spa and waterfall in a lovely relaxed garden area.

Accommodation ranges from budget holiday cabins, motel units, deluxe cabins, houses and family suites that can sleep up to 15 people.

The Pump House is a unique option which is a newly renovated building overlooking the Freshwater Creek.

Excellent for family breaks, this Cairns caravan park has lots of sites to choose from; catering for your caravan, motor home, camper van or tent. The sites are spacious and many have creek frontage.

Lake Placid Tourist Park

Would you like Peace and Serenity?

This caravan holiday park offers it.

Right across the road from Lake Placid. It's quiet and peaceful and with sorts of wildlife around.

The tourist park is at the foothills of the Barron Gorge, so the scenery is spectacular. You can also see the Kuranda Train winding its way around the mountain range from the park.

There's a lovely pool and BBQ area where you can enjoy yourself in a cool tropical setting, meeting other travelers.

Lake Placid Caravan Park

The park is half way between Cairns city and the Northern Beaches as well as lots of attractions close by.

Lake Placid also has a picnic area and you can explore it by jumping in a canoe and paddling peacefully around the calm waters.

Accommodation caters for everyone in mind, from luxury holiday cabins and budget family cabins to en-suite sites and cottages for people with limited mobility. They also have powered sites for caravans, motorhomes, camper vans buses or tents.

Crystal Cascades Holiday Park

Breathtaking rainforest, magnificent gardens

For a quiet family break, then Crystal Cascades is a great choice.

It's a 4 1/2 star holiday park 15 minutes from Cairns city at Redlynch Valley, with mountains bordering either side.

The tropical rainforest surrounds the holiday park and is close to crystal cascades, which is a beautiful freshwater stream flowing over huge boulders which opens up to a cool swimming hole.

The freshwater stream runs past the park and is another birdwatchers paradise.

The saltwater pool and spa has lush tropical gardens surrounding it. There's an internet cafe and also free wireless internet throughout the park.

It's immaculately clean and tidy and really quiet. All you can hear are the birds; no noisy cars as it's off the main road.

Accommodation consists of En-suite Villa's, holiday cabins and chalets, catering for both couples and families. They also have powered sites for your caravan and camping.

"We stayed here for ten days and could not fault this park in any way. We would give it a rating of 11 out of 10 for service, cleanliness, location, appearance. The amenities were spotless, the gardens were magnificent, the service and friendliness were excellent and the location at the foot of the rainforest was breathtaking. Ellis Beach Caravan Park

Ellis Beach

For absolute beach frontage

This is the perfect place to stay if you love the beach.

Right on one of the quietest beaches, it's also one of the most beautiful.

Lots of Cairns locals get married on Ellis Beach, so that must be saying something.

It's quiet, but close enough to the restaurants and shops of Palm Cove. If you don't want to go anywhere, that's OK, Ellis Beach has a licensed bar and grill which serves coffee, meals and booze.

Stay there for the best sunrises along the coast. It's approximately halfway between Cairns and Port Douglas, on the most scenic drive you'll find in Queensland.

If you want to do nothing but sit and relax, or just stroll along the sandy beach while the kids are building sandcastles, then this is the perfect holiday for you.

Get away from it all by staying at Ellis Beach camping and caravan holiday park.
